RealtyTrac: Hawaii home prices second only to Washington, D.C.

Hawaii had the second-highest median home price in the nation in June, according to a report from RealtyTrac, which found that only the District of Columbia had higher housing prices.

The median price of a home in Hawaii as of June was $400,995, which was 4 percent higher than the same month in 2012. The median price in No. 1 Washington, D.C., was $460,000, and California was a distant third with a median price of $325,000.

Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac said its first-ever U.S. residential sales report showed that the national median home price was $168,000, which was an increase of 5 percent from the same month in 2012.
